New Hotel At McPhillips Station Casino

Canad Inns To Develop New Hotel At McPhillips Station Casino

Winnipeg, Manitoba – Manitoba Lotteries and Canad Inns are adding to the amenities and services at McPhillips Station Casino with a new destination casino hotel. The project will see Canad Inns invest in the development, construction and operation of the hotel – on Manitoba Lotteries property. The hotel will also be linked to the casino.

“Manitoba and its business community are significantly enhancing the Province’s major attractions right now,” said the Honourable Steve Ashton, Minister responsible for Manitoba Lotteries. “Projects such as this new hotel are creating not only economic growth and reasons to visit Manitoba, but also providing exciting entertainment and employment opportunities for Manitobans.”

Customer research and gaming industry trends show increased consumer demand for all-inclusive destinations with dedicated entertainment and a variety of dining options onsite. The hotel will draw travelers, due to the Casino’s proximity and convenience to Winnipeg’s international airport and downtown attractions. The addition of the hotel will also allow McPhillips Station Casino to capture its own overnight casino hotel patrons similar to that of other major convention and gaming facilities in North America.

“Manitoba Lotteries has maintained a successful business relationship with Canad Inns for many years,” said Leo Ledohowski, President and Chair of Canad Inns. “We are proud to bring a 200 room Canad Inns facility to McPhillips Station Casino. This facility will include the following amenities: AALTOS Garden Café, Tavern United, ‘l Bistro Mediterranean Eatery, Playmakers Lounge, Ambassador Banquet & Conference Centre, a dinner theatre, fitness facility and gift store, which will all complement the amenities in the casino.”

The hotel will be constructed to the same standards as the Canad Inns Destination Centre in Grand Forks, ND.

This project represents a long term investment in the property and provides economic stimulus to the construction, business, hospitality and tourism sectors. Over $50 million in labour income will be generated with 1,120 person years of construction employment. About 160 person years of employment will be generated annually once the hotel is operational. The province will collect about $8.9 million in taxes through the construction phase and $2.9 million annually when operational.
