The Pause and Plan: After Your Voluntary Self-Exclusion Period Ends course provides you with information about how gambling works as well as the opportunity to think about your own experiences with gambling.
This information may help you make informed decisions about whether you want to return to gambling once your exclusion period ends and help you to think about a personal plan of action.
If you choose to end your voluntary self-exclusion once your self-selected time period has ended, completing the Pause and Plan: After Your Voluntary Self-Exclusion Period Ends course is a requirement of Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries.
Important notes:
- The course is divided into seven sections.
- You must view all of the content and complete all seven sections of the course in sequential order.
- You can complete the course all at once or one section at a time.
- Your login will expire after 30 days of inactivity.
- Once you have completed the entire course, an email notification will be sent to Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries to confirm that you have fulfilled the requirement for completing the course.
You have the option to take this course in Winnipeg at the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba (AFM). To do this please call 204-944-6368, Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

This course will help you:
- Understand how gambling works, including randomness, independence of events and house advantage
- Appreciate the differences and range between lower-risk and higher-risk gambling
- Identify the myths and incorrect beliefs that may lead to higher-risk gambling
- Review your past and present motivations, intentions and decisions about gambling and voluntary self-exclusion
- Develop a personal plan that could include the following:
- Continue to abstain from gambling
- Choose not to conclude your voluntary self-exclusion, even after your self-selected time period has ended
- Choose to conclude your voluntary self-exclusion and enter the casino for entertainment, e.g. shows and dinner
- Gamble on PlayNow.com or at the casino or gaming centre
- Be aware of the problem gambling resources in Manitoba.
