Currently on PlayNow.com, The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri are tied to win the most awards. However, Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri is favoured to win Best Picture and a $10 bet for that movie will return $19 if it wins the award.
In other categories, Gary Oldman is leading the odds to win Best Actor, while Frances McDormand is favoured to win the Best Actress category. Odds indicate acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro is most likely to win the Best Director for The Shape of Water, while the film is favoured to win in five categories on PlayNow.com.
When it comes to Canadian nominees, a $10 bet on Christopher Plummer to win Best Supporting Actor, for his role in All The Money In The World, will return $260 with a win. The Breadwinner, based on the novel by Canadian author Deborah Ellis, is nominated for Best Animated Feature. A $10 winning bet on this film will return $130.
The Oscars is the most popular awards betting event on PlayNow.com, outpacing the Golden Globes and the Grammys. Last year, the gambling site saw approximately $33,000 wagered on more than 1,800 bets.
