Liquor Marts Welcome Glenfiddich Cask of Dreams In Commemoration of the Selkirk Settlers
Scotch whisky lovers will have the opportunity to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Selkirk Settlers with their purchase of an exclusive and rare bottle at Manitoba Liquor Marts.
The Glenfiddich Limited Edition Cask of Dreams is a single malt scotch finished in two American oak barrels signed by the hands of hundreds of Manitobans. The barrels rolled into Winnipeg on Robbie Burns Day, January 25, 2012, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the Selkirk Settlers and to kick off the Glenfiddich cross-Canada “One Day You Will” cask rolling tour. After being signed by Manitobans, the two barrels returned to the Glenfiddich distillery in Dufftown, Scotland, to finish this specially selected scotch now available for purchase.
“The spirit of the Selkirk Settlers helped shaped Manitoba and we’re pleased to celebrate the rich heritage of our province by offering this limited edition product,” said Roman Zubach, MLCC’s Chief Operating Officer.
In 1812, Thomas Douglas, the 5th Earl of Selkirk, helped settle many Scottish farmers within the Selkirk Settlement, an area nearly four times as large as Scotland. Their settlement in this vast expanse of land helped lay the foundation for Manitoba itself.
Only 888 bottles from the Manitoba-signed barrels of Glenfiddich Limited Edition Cask of Dreams are available for purchase and can be found at select Manitoba Liquor Marts for $99.99 + taxes (750 ml) while supplies last.
