Young Manitoba Athletes Score A Chance To Attend Winnipeg Jets Game

Winnipeg, Manitoba – Hundreds of amateur athletes and their coaches have been given a chance to cheer on the Winnipeg Jets at the MTS Centre this season, thanks to the Manitoba Lotteries Flight Deck program. The Flight Deck, a partnership between Manitoba Lotteries and True North Sports & Entertainment, makes 24 seats available to amateur athletes and their coaches at each Winnipeg Jets home game. Manitoba Lotteries is encouraging teams to apply now for a chance to attend one of the final exciting games of the season.

“Manitoba Lotteries Flight Deck is one of the ways in which we support youth and amateur sports in the province,” said Winston Hodgins, President and CEO of Manitoba Lotteries. “We are a long-time supporter of athletics in Manitoba and along with our valued partner, the Winnipeg Jets, we are excited to motivate our youth and celebrate coaching excellence.”

Manitoba Lotteries Flight Deck is for athletes eight to seventeen years old, and their coaches who must be at least 18 years of age and have successfully completed Sport Manitoba’s “Respect In Sport” program. Coaches may enter their team online at manitobalotteries.com for a chance to be drawn randomly among all entrants for upcoming games.

“We have some very dedicated athletes that just happened to be obsessed with hockey,” said Graham Bodnar, coach of the Richer Wildcats volleyball team, attending the December 17 Jets-Ducks game. “Coming to the city for a Jets game was beyond their wildest dreams.”

The Winnipeg Jets hockey season is divided into four “flights” with applications for the final flight being accepted beginning January 25. A full list of amateur sport teams that have been selected in the first three flights of the season are listed on the following pages.

“The chance to experience the new Jets’ first win is still sinking in for all of us,’ says Scott Pedlow, coach of the MNP Atom Devils from Brandon who attended the Jets’ October 17 game. “The moments we experienced will be memories for life!”

Manitoba Lotteries has a long history of supporting Manitoba sports and is committed to helping community organizations through event sponsorships, fundraising support and volunteerism.
