Matching Donations to Ukrainian Canadian Congress

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Matches Employee and Customer Donations to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress

Beginning next week, customers at all Liquor Marts and the Casinos of Winnipeg will be able to make donations to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC). Funds raised will be used to purchase needed medication, means of shelter, clothing and food products to support the humanitarian assistance needed in Ukraine. Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries will be matching customer and employee donations to a maximum of $50,000.

“Like everyone, we have been watching the events unfold in Ukraine,” says Minister Ron Lemieux, Minister responsible for Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries. “We know how deeply Manitoba is connected to Ukraine and wanted to take tangible action in making it easier for Manitobans to support the humanitarian efforts of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.”

Beginning Wednesday, March 26, patrons at the casinos can make cash or cheque donations at the coat check areas of both Club Regent Casino and McPhillips Station Casino. Customers at Liquor Marts can donate at all locations in Winnipeg and throughout the province. All proceeds will be collected and donated to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

“It’s heartwarming to know Manitobans are responding so deeply to what’s happening in Ukraine,” said Oksana Bondarchuk, President, Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Manitoba Provincial Council. “The money raised through Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries will have a tremendous impact on the humanitarian efforts currently underway.”

Since fall 2013, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress has been assisting in the coordination of humanitarian efforts for the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians defending their right to live in a democratic country.

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries operates Liquor Marts and Liquor Mart Express stores, Club Regent Casino, McPhillips Station Casino, Video Lotto and PlayNow.com, and also distributes and sells Western Canada Lottery products through our network of lottery ticket retailers. Revenues generated by Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries are returned to the Province to support priority programming in health care, education, social and community services, economic development and public safety initiatives.
